The Road Less Photographed

Way back when … I started my photographic career using large format film cameras. I had my own commercial photography studio in Philadelphia shooting primarily food photography for national and international advertising clients. Throughout my work at the studio, I transitioned through a number of technology updates and changes. Now, in addition to shooting my advertising work, I am back to using large format again as I create photographic images using the wet plate process for the 1800s.  

The wetplate process requires a darkroom. I am fortunate to have acquired a darkroom trailer that enables me to travel throughout the United States creating imagery that highlight humanity and the delicate nature of life through the use of portraiture, botanicals and collaboratively produced art.

The traveling darkroom also allows me to share this process while teaching workshops in various locations.

Shadow and Light magazine was kind enough to feature me and this process in their July / August 2018 issue entitled Alternative Processes.
